The Museum in you

The unhindered enthusiasm to discover the world when you are a kid start creating a museum in you

The aspirations and perspiration of parents growing you adds spice to the Museum in you

The enduring childhood, the thrills, shrills and drills at school shapes the personality of museum in you.

The social activities, confused and dazed teenage, pressure to excel decorates the Museum in you.

The untiring efforts towards challenges, the grit to succeed, and the mark to make a difference are the endearing characters of the museum in you.

The   temptations, the failures, the weaknesses, the frustrations become indelible memories of the museum in you.

The faith, belief, criticism, health, age, upbringing, infatuations, frustrations, bliss, happiness, moods, cherished friendships, soulmates, classmates, society becomes the tapestry of life in the museum in you.

The journey of life appears better than the end, the patience to wait for achievements, getting there to the cherished goals is the final bliss and tranquility of your Museum in you.

The Journey of Life

The journey was expected to be a tapestry

The beginning was learning with ease and rhapsody

The middle was the elixir of eternity

Felt like there would be no mortality

The twists and turns helps to deal tactfully

While days turn to years the vitality is a travesty

The journey was expected to be majesty

But Life is a journey of gallantry, unreality, laxity, vanity, spirituality, joviality and insanity.

The transient beauty of life should be dealt with sanity otherwise brutality is the real reality.

we see God in you not the devil

Dear Doctor

We share our sufferings because your expertise is elixir to our bodies, we always wish that you are hale and healthy because your caring hands for sure will cure us. Believe us, we see God in you not the devil.

The best of the health, the most of the memories of your family be with you because your healing touch makes us see God in you not the devil.

The blessings of the cured , always be with you for the sacrifices you make and we all See God in you not the devil.

Your deft handling of illness, every night and day shall not go in vain for most of the times because you do make us see God in you not the devil.

For the vigour and new life you gave dear Doctor, our eyes will be full of gratitude and we can only see God in you not the Devil.

You are the healer of the suffering, you are the answer of our prayers and it is truly our destiny when cured or not, but we only see God in you not the devil

Fate it is really in this journey of joy and sorrow, bliss and sufferings, health or illness but we are blessed by your well wishes so we see God in you not the Devil.

Blessings, gratitude, heartfelt thanks and the joy of being treated by you makes us feel that we have seen the GOD in you and you will never be a DEVIL,

You and I

Let us go then You and i

The evening beckons us of great desire

The mood between us is like a fire

The look from you intensifies my admire

The heart is pounding for having an affair

The mind races to take a step to inspire

You and I Let’s go then for reaching the stars

Where I can play your favourite lyrics on guitar

The longing for a union appears like a chocolate bar

The scent from the garden reminds that heaven is not far

You and I, Let’s drape the flowers like a draper

Your dress furls when the wind is your chauffer

You are the epitome of beauty and demure

The relation is a roller coaster tapestry that I love to endure

It’s me and you as  the world around us become obscure

Let us go then, you and I to a world where love and life is pure.

The Goal

The dripping of the rain droplets matches the heart beats

The inhale and exhale is full of exciting whispers

Of the minds intense anticipation of the moment

The eyes are telling stories in abundant

The hard work is the reflections of the commitment

The walk towards the podium is pleasant

The claps of the crowd is a stamp of acknowledgement

The mind is in an uncontrollable state of enchantment

The reaching of a goal is the final stage of fulfilment

We frame our day and our problems

We frame our day and our problems because we have emotions

We are slow to change and go thru our day with same motions.

We shape ourselves without much cognition

We never realize that we are capable of getting more recognition.

We frame the mind to think and act on preconceived notion

We take for granted our age and time when we are needed to pay attention.

We start our lives with full of ambitions

We learn the ground realities to be harsh and full of commotions.

We aim and do our best to be awesome

We realize that we are capable to succeed and look handsome.

We shape ourselves and our society on our traditions

We cannot rapidly adjust to the ever growing competitions and to succeed in our missions.

We spend our age and time on becoming flawless.

We spare little attention about quality of life since we are clueless.

We shape our lives on our emotions and everything we do is because of our heart and brain

We never realize peace and tranquility within us can be divine

Are we moving our young towards Pre historic basic instincts?

With rapid developments in Artificial intelligence and use of it in developing robots that can do almost anything what we are capable of doing we humans will be left with not much to do until unless we come to terms with our cognitive and emotional intelligence. In this next Machine age humans will be left serving the Machines , 3D printers and monitoring the distributed manufacturing facilities. Deep intelligence networks autonomously can start a war or robots can kill people if not programmed properly.  Nations and their policy for human development needs to have a vision 2050 and beyond , right now to prepare our younger generation (with their bodies implanted with sensors and other electronics that control their feelings and habits)  for co-existence with Intelligent machines which are capable to compete and win better over humans in terms of work , logic and processing power.

Roughly around 50% to 60% of planets population becomes available to do something drastically different than what we do presently by year 2050(May be earlier too). This mammoth population will have nothing much to do except eat and have fun when smart machines are doing everything that kept present generations busy with  work, family life and social engagements.

In spite of  living in the most advanced societies mankind will still need to deal with basic human emotions of greed, ego, desires, consciousness, primal instinct of survival, love, hate etc whether it is today or it is  year 2050 and beyond.  Evil characteristics are primitive in nature but always played a vital role and still will play a vital role. Interesting read on this here http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20160401-how-did-evil-evolve-and-why-did-it-persist

Presently there is an attempt to redefine the fundamental ideas of exactly what it means to be a Human. We can witness unimaginable things happening due to huge investments that control the natural habitat of homo-sapiens and other species. These efforts will pave way of world dominance by a few big corporations and few people

So it is time for every nation to have a policy plan in place for Human Vision 2050 to keep human as humans with feelings, consciousness and intelligence to overcome basic negative instincts. Here are some of the ideas that I wish to propose to make mankind have a meaningful peaceful coexistence.

Academic.

Today’s education system leads to high stress, depression, anxiety and other neurological diseases. Kids Mental strength to withstand even small pressure is depleting fast in this digitally connected fast paced life style. So the syllabus should include developing good human emotions, empathy spirituality, yoga, meditation and how to lead a life rather than just live. Schools should start focusing on nurturing and imparting   human’s best practices, deep cognitive and emotional intelligence. The curriculum should be carefully drafted to make the future citizens to be intelligent enough to know what is good for their long term fruitful coexistence on the planet.

Corporations and Governments.

The smartest and most creative companies will never stop from being just a profitable company. They will strive to become dominant market player and try becoming dominant across multiple business domains leading to world dominance. The Most innovative companies are working on possibilities of making humans immune to diseases, stop aging and other unimaginable things to us today. (example : Calico project https://www.calicolabs.com/)

Powerful Government’s will attempt strategies to have control of natural resources thru world dominance militarily and thru other tactics.   These strategies should be carefully monitored by both companies and governments to avoid self-destruction on the long run. They should consider planet’s other living beings, natural resources as part of their planning for peaceful coexistence and to stay human as much as possible.  Company’s innovations or Government policy matters should enable all citizens to have equal opportunity. They should encourage and support individual’s cognitive and emotional intelligence for better life with best practices for themselves, society and their families for peaceful coexistence.

There is a trend to make humans half robots with body implants, which is so worrisome since these half human/half digital human beings will lose the abilities such as empathy, consciousness and other natural human feelings and finally end up destroying themselves and other living beings. This reminds me of the pre historic life styles where there is nothing much to do but to eat and fight to grab others territories.

Our kids with their soul mate, deserve a nice evening walk in a beautiful garden under the moonlight, listening to their favourite music and having memories that they can share and cherish with their near and dear.   Let’s nurture and nourish the planet with better practices and let our companies consider human feelings to be part of their Technology innovations strategies.

Where there is a WHY there is a WAY

“The ‘why’ of what we do is much more motivating than the ‘what,’ we do.

When we are young we don’t really care to chart a course of action of what we really want in our life or where we really want to go. We just know that we need to go to school or college, make friends, study or have fun and pass out. If we are Lucky enough we get into job via Campus recruitment or thru some competitive exams whether we like it or not. All of these are familiar to most of the students.    Those are the golden days where we enjoy watching movies with friends, post photos on Facebook, study together or do something that we know really well. We never question “why” we do what we are doing daily.    We are in a comfort zone and we don’t care much to plan or plot a particular journey or reach a particular goal that is unknown to us.  We won’t know the meaning of “Vision” or what “Disruption” to our daily routine means.  Very few students move out of comfort zone, from daily habits, from the known life and experiment with things, think differently, work hard to reach great goals,  do something different than their friends or classmates do. They are charting an unknown path and at every step of learning they stop, re-evaluate and recalibrate their course of action and finally they will find a WAY for leading a life not just living another day that is just like yesterday for many others.

“Vision” implies you have a view of exactly where you want to go and you chart a course of action plan accordingly, like plotting a journey on a map, a straightforward road with no distractions, roadblocks or alternate routes.

Others just move forward and they don’t form any idea how to lead a life until a problem makes them to think. That is the time self is constructed and that is the time most of them take a course of action and follow.  That is the time WHY leads to find a “WAY” out of the situation. For some of those who don’t ask themselves “WHY” early on they may end up with doing something they don’t really want to do whether it is their subjects or life  or career.

So my friend every day you should question your routine with a WHY and you will realize that you need a WAY to better your life. Better life with best practices is what my vision is for skillsnest.

The art of leading life.

“Time, not money, is the most valuable commodity of all”

We have proven track record of achieving extraordinary success in things, projects or big goals that we never imagine we can do it. Belief in attempting things that are beyond our imagination and achieving them enriches our lives with fulfilment and many times makes us famous and rich. “Only those who attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible”.--Albert Einstein Theoretical Physicist, Philosopher, Nobel Prize Winner

We are living in a very competitive era and we all have onus of making some impact with our way of living life on ourselves and the community around us. We should develop the habit of liking to be challenged, stay self-motivated in spite of negative pressures on us; take big challenges and try our best to accomplish them and people will start noticing you. There is a need for every one of us to make a difference in whatever we attempt to do.

“There’s only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self”. —Aldous Huxley Novelist

We are known from what we achieve.  But our achievements have a shelf life. That means we cannot just stop improving ourselves and impacting others as role models.  World moves dynamically and age, values, knowledge, experiences are constantly progressing and where we stand is what matters. Taking risks and learning from setbacks and moving forward are the only way to stay relevant in this world. There are problems small to complex that needs to be solved and we have the capability of solving many of them.

Some examples are “Genetic sequencing of human genes that help in target medication for individuals instead of generalized prescriptions”.  Similarly we have global warming challenges to solve. We have challenges to reach Mars, Venus and colonize Moon. Our imagination is what matters the most.

There are people who are able to achieve some extraordinary feats such as  mimic human behaviors, experiences and creativity by using some complex machine learning techniques, Mathematical algorithms such as K-nearest neighbor ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-nearest_neighbors_algorithm ) to analyze music , predict Hollywood movies whether they will be hits or flops even before starting on the projects ( http://www.epagogix.com/ ) and finally computers creating music (we don’t need music directors anymore)  http://geb.uma.es/melomics/melomics.html

But for a beginner in life like young students there is ample opportunity for you to start building your life and leading on the edge of achieving some extra ordinary things. Here are some basic principles of achieving some extra ordinary things.

  1. Ignore the Noise. Once you firm up your mind and motivate yourselves to start working for great achievements you will find naysayers around you all the time. They will try to pull you down. Just ignore them and slowly and steadily start building knowledge and experiences in what you really want to achieve that is beyond your imagination.

Do remember “It is not who is Right but what is Right” matters.

  1. Have clear objective. Start reading/learning diversified information. Today world needs people who are deep in one knowledge area but also very good in every subject matter that is not related to their fields. I wrote a blog on this https://skillsnest.wordpress.com/2013/09/29/chance-favors-the-connected-mind/

3. Stay focused: As you continue your journey of achieving great goals you may be distracted         by many events, circumstances, constraints, family pressures and many unknown   factors.            Coming back on track is very important. Doing regular Yoga and Meditation will help you to             regain focus.

“Innovation is rewarded, execution is worshiped.”

  1. Develop patience. Today digitally connected and instant gratification world is making young students to be restless and expecting instant results. But in order to achieve great things you have to be patient enough and continue your journey until you reach your goals.

“There is no limitations except those we create for ourselves” ―Lolly Daskal, Thoughts Spoken From The Heart

  1. Watch your progress: we all make judgmental mistakes and sometimes it may be that we may choose a wrong direction. So occasionally checking where we stand in our achievements should be monitored and measured. Otherwise all our efforts may be ultimately futile .

  1. Not able to accept failure: We should never become possessive of our tasks, work or people we work with. Sometimes if things won’t work out we should be able to ignore our failures and continue on a new path. Possessiveness makes us Sad and creates mental distress and other health problems. I wrote a blog on this subject here https://skillsnest.wordpress.com/2013/09/10/failure-is-not-final/

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail”                   .– Ralph Waldo Emerson Philosopher, Poet, Author, Essayist

7. Question your acts: You should constantly ask why you are doing something in a                        particular fashion. By questioning your way of doing you will get a chance to do it much                better.  I wrote a blog on this

https://skillsnest.wordpress.com/2014/01/27/where-there-is-a-why-there-is-a-way/

“Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do,                                 something to love, and something to hope for”.–Joseph Addison English                               Essayist, Poet, Playwright And Politician.

Good luck to you.

My life story in Six words

One of the habit I’m developing while at my regular walk during Morning and evening is to keep my mind busy with thoughts that might help me with my work and life. One of the routine is to write blogs on something that could  help/inspire someone who reads my blog. I was thinking of writing a blog for quite some time but was busy with guest lectures and a Coursera course (https://www.coursera.org/ )  “Developing innovative Ideas for a New company” I started this March 3rd. This is a six week course but they allowed students to go ahead and finish the course earlier. It occurred to me that I should attempt to complete all six weeks course in Six days of the first week itself but should be able to target for highest marks possible. Guess what, I completed the course but took Ten days (Wednesday 12/3/2014) taking the last quiz before midnight 12.00 PM. So the result is that by constraining to six days forced me to be creative with my daily schedule.

So the constraint that I made for completing my course in six days made me think creatively and set goals to reach it as much as possible. Constraints should enhance creativity not bog you down to stress and anxiety.

The most common problem college students engage is procrastination, the act of ‘putting off something until a future time – postponing or deferring action’. That means most of them become serious with their exams or career planning in the last minute. This creates stress that leads to anxiety.

They come to me with this problem of stress and anxiety due to lack of time (it’s too late). How do I help them?  This became my challenge for  quite some time during my daily walk.  I read extensively on how to reduce stress and anxiety as listed bellows that helps some of the students or employees to overcome their stress and anxiety.  But I was not sure that this research will solve everyone’s problem.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/02/21/mikaela-shiffrin-takes-lead-olympic-slalom/fBf912OWzecqxe9RY2h9KM/story.html

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22755446

http://www.athleticinsight.com/Vol5Iss2/ClimbingImagery.htm

The only way stress or anxiety can be reduced is to plan ahead and stick with that plan and reach the goals you want to reach.

But that is not easy with the distractions of daily life. So now I thought let’s explore how to use these constraints of daily distractions, mental weakness, and procrastination to reach our goals or reduce the stress.

I started exploring the web on constraints and came across a story of Ernest Hemingway, a story writer who bet with friends that he could write an entire story in just six words. It seems impossible feat but Hemingway did it as follows

“FOR SALE: Baby Shoes, Never worn”  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_sale%3A_baby_shoes%2C_never_worn

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18768430

That excited me to write my life story in six words and here is what it is

Fall ,Rise, plan, achieve, Sorrow , splendid –RK

So procrastination , stress , anxiety , tension or what ever it is that is stopping you becoming great should be used for your advantage.  For me planning , setting goals and also sticking with the goals to the best of my abilities is what made me what I’m today. My physical constraint never bothered me reaching to a better life with best practices. So I wish this blog inspires you all to think how to use your constraints for your advantage creatively…

Now I challenge you to write your life story in six words as comments to this blog.

The links below are some extraordinary “creativity under constraint” stories for you. Enjoy and let me know if you liked this blog and make me happy please by expressing your opinion (it’s long overdue from my readers).

Students this is for you

India is still considered as developing country and I feel extremely upset with this thought. We produce so many well learned people and this country ranks high in the number of PhD’s and master students who come out of universities. But still not a single university ranks high in the top 100 lists of the world.

Every part of the government machinery is still limping with inefficiencies, bureaucracy and off course corruption. It is a nightmare to get work done with government still. How long we take to become transparent, modern and nimble?

But what puzzles me is why our education system is suffering from status Quo with antique teaching methods and subjects that do not align with our modern industry?  These same students someday become government employees and they continue the same old tradition. Why are they not questioning this and why are they not attempting to change except handful of very dedicated officers and employees?

I know many will disagree with some statements above but the point I want to drive is things that needed to be done at the college levels. Present state of affairs is basically the result of our education system that needs drastic disruptive changes.

I request “Universities and colleges : Please wake up and fix your systems”.

Majority of young student’s lifestyle follows a predictive path once they steps into the college. They read the same stuff their friends read, they go to the same movies their friends go, they play the same games their friends play and everyone studies for just marks/grades and finally waiting to get into job thru campus recruitment or some other methods. Then they enter workforce and live life depending on their lifestyles.

This result in massive waste of brain power, youth’s energies, strengths, will power, time and many qualities that otherwise wisely tapped, would have developed the nation to highest degree of living standards. In a Billion population there are handful who are contributing to the  growth of the nation’s living standards but why are we collectively not thinking of following those brilliant people who strive for the nation.

This is because we never question anything and just follow the protocol. We never develop skills such as creativity, innovation, the quest to live a better life, the craving for quality and the interest to dive deeper into our subject matters. Many students won’t learn subject for knowledge but just for getting grades. Universities take long time to adjust syllabus that follow industry best practices. Even if they introduce the syllabus the faculty is not trained to the latest and greatest trends in business so they cannot teach the same to the students.

Read what The CEO of one of the largest software company has to say about teachers here http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/education/20-of-teachers-in-the-country-not-sincere-azim-premji-says/articleshow/43212004.cms

Inspiration to do things differently is low in teaching community and there are several reasons for that but that will be for a different blog.

But I blame partially students and parents for not willing to question the status quo. Here are some steps required by students to initiate a change for a better life and a better country . This same can be used by any other developing and under developing nation’s  students.

  1. Change in lifestyle. I absolutely agree that students should have good memories of college life with loads of fun but I totally disagree that they should feel that this is the top priority. They should first take a snap shot of daily life and confine fun to couple of hours a day. This should be done collectively by all students because if one follows the rule the other will break it and the overall change is not possible.
  2. Learn from Internet. I do not know why universities take so long to keep syllabus fluid and aligned to ever changing business needs, but that should not stop young students to spend time to learn the best practices of the industry online. So instead of spending time on Social networks spare time to learn what’s going on in your area of subject matter. There are several exciting stories in business circle that will inspire you and energizes you with knowledge and opportunities you may not get if you just study for marks.
  3. Engage fellow students: Form a team from different educational backgrounds and take up a local problem and try to solve. For example during winter most of the babies and children become sick from viral fevers and hospitals are packed with patients. It is painful to sit for long hours to get treated and you know it is much more painful if that hospital happens to be government hospital. So as a team you should collaborate with fellow medical students and come up with preventive steps from diseases and conduct community classes to educate parents and others from having good health for themselves and their children. This helps you to learn communication skills, project execution skills and time management skills. These soft skills are very vital skills needed for business.
  4. Engage with professionals that visit campus or on social networks. Students should join professional networks such as LinkedIn and start participating in group discussions and identify opportunities from the challenges industry is facing and brainstorm of ideas to solve the problems. That way you become expert in that subject matter and you will do much better when you join the business.
  5. Yoga and Meditation: Modern life style is full of pressures and pulls from every direction. Maintaining top health is very difficult if you are not disciplined. So from very young age it is best to practice Yoga and Meditation to maintain top health.
  6. Sports : It is mandatory that students come out of Facebook and internet games to play real games to develop good and healthy body/mind, otherwise we end up with sick nation with no hope for becoming most developed. Remember Swamy Vivekananda’s call for youth.
  7. Reading and listening skills: Spend time reading books online and newspapers every day. Search for business videos, ted talks that inspire you and teach you some very important life lessons and listen to them. Bookmark some best sites that help you to get the best and the latest in your area of interest. This helps you to improve your vocabulary and also general knowledge which are useful during interviews.
  8. Try teaching: Start teaching your juniors whatever you learnt on a daily basis. Adopt a school and go and teach them what you learnt. This will help you to memorize the subject matter and also keeps you on your toes to learn something new to teach some other day.
  9. Form teams and go to a nearby village and check what problems exist there. Then come back and see if you can use your learning to solve their problems. In the process you may even start your own company and give jobs to fellow students.
  10. Finally remember every student attends the same schools, read the same books, go to the same movies, play the same video games, and watch the same TV shows so how can you expect to have a  life experience, ideas of  your own or world views? If you do not follow a better living standards?

Above suggestions will elevate your career and help nation to become better. Please take time to rethink your priorities and strategies and try your best to live quality life with best practices. Comments are appreciated.

Now or never. You decide your fate

If you’re young and ambitious and driven, don’t run from the challenge, run towards it. If you’re terrified of learning something new, go find a way to learn and master it. When you are a student and young you have loads of energy and enough time for learning as much as possible. You won’t stay young for ever and student life won’t stay with you for ever. You spend so much time having fun during college that you miss this vital point, that once you are out of college you are on your own to find a job and succeed in career. Campus interviews may give a job for some but that is the worst job with low pay and high pressure to handle. Those students who are smart enough realize the value of time and work towards their goals early on and once they are ready they also look for jobs they like to do in LinkedIn , twitter and Facebook other than campus interviews.

Life is full of temptations and distractions. When you are young you will have more opportunities to waste time, money and your youthfulness.

Start using your mind on what matters most for your life and for your family.Fate is not decided by anyone. It is you who can decide what is best for you and your family.  Time is precious and need to be spend wisely.  One of the best practice you need to develop is to check how you spent your day and what value you derived from all the activities you did during the day. Spending time on  Facebook, twitter or games or chatting or going to movies should be restricted otherwise it will  only add more junk in to your precious mind.  Networking with professionals , spending time to know yourselves , your strengths, your weaknesses and becoming mindful of all your activities will give you enough mental strength, knowledge and courage to find what you love to do for your career. Positive habits help you with clarity of thoughts when you need direction and guidance to succeed in life. Think of your parents, teachers and friends who you should trust for guidance and work hard to learn skills needed for you to succeed.  You may not love it while you’re going through the learning phase, but you’ll carry that learning and success with you  for ever. Once you achieve what you are aspiring for then you will have wonderful life. May be you will be  visiting exotic places and working on some wonderful and challenging assignments.

In order to have quality life, good food and good life you need to work for  it and  prove that you are eligible for good life.

I worked for that and I succeeded and i want you to succeed too.

You can start with small positive actions such as reading for a hour a day something new, doing yoga /meditation for a while etc and as days pass by they become your habits and you will be in a position to control your life and lead a life rather than living a life.

Similarly for getting rid of bad habits you should start with small attempts and then slowly  get rid of that bad habit  completely after some time.

Please do comment your feedback and suggestions.

How committed are you?

New Year brings with it some aspirations; unfulfilled desires within us which we wish to achieve. How many times you felt that you should accomplish something and you were not able to do?.   Until you change your daily routine or attitude or habits it is hard to become someone special. To achieve your dreams or unfulfilled desires you need to have the following characters.

Commitment

How truly are you committed to making a change coming year? Do you know clearly what your goals are?  Can you measure them in hours of work/study or activity at a specific time of the day? How many times in the past you thought of doing something and failed. What could be the reasons? Did you analyze the reasons of failures? How many times did you change your plans because your friends want you to come to movie, or chat online on Facebook or go out to just roam on the roads when your goal for that day was to study your subject for exams?  Can you and willing to stay focused? How do you want to focus? Do you have any ideas how to resist the temptation of chatting on Facebook or going out with friends when you really want to study?  Are you willing to work long hours, weekends and holidays for a limited time to accomplish what you desire? (By the way by just roaming aimlessly on your Motor bikes on the already congested roads;  you are contributing more to global warming, polluting your surroundings, depleting precious oil reserves. One solution is to use bicycles or walk or run. Health improves and you are not part of ruining our planet)

Planning

  • To accomplish something you need to know how to plan. Do you know how to plan what you want to achieve? Did you plan long term or just for that day? Did you plan as far as 6 months to a year. Life is not a short movie ; so you have no choice but to plan for your future.   How many hours are you planning to spare for achieving your goals today, this month, this year and many years to reach great heights in your career and life.  How are you planning to resist temptations and distractions from friends and others? You need to re engineer your body and mind to accomplish something great.

Change Your Behavior – Develop New Habits

  • If you continue to do same things you did  in the past you will remain same for ever without seeing anything new because repetition only results in same results you are seeing all your life. How you feel about yourselves? Are you willing to put some effort to improve yourselves? Can you go thru the pain of working towards your goals?  Think big but start with the small steps. Practice continually to bring some value into every hour of your life with conscious effort and your best practices takes you to a new golden world(“ Kotha BangaruLokam “ in telugu language)

What is the biggest change you will make this coming year to prove your self that you have the willingness to help your self?  Start your year with a purpose and some goals and try your best to achieve them.

Measure your happiness, How your face looks at 60?

We all want to be Happy. Do you agree? Then read this and it will make you happy.

In this digitally connected world we are  becoming heavily busy and miss the opportunity to analyze and introspect ourselves and  what makes us happy .  Most of us are so busy checking our emails, socializing with friends on Facebook , twitter and other sites, spending time in movie halls or working towards our goals and don’t have time to take a snapshot of day’s events and judge how we reacted to each event or situation that happens to us during the day.

We have a choice to be reactive or be creative,  but most of the time we spend days, months and years in a reactive mode by attending to our daily chores. We don’t think much about the routine we perform everyday and get used to the daily grind. Due to that we slowly stop thinking that things can be done in a much better way and our day can be more productive by questioning our daily routine and how we perform it. We just need to become more creative and focus on improving our daily routine. The net result of improving our quality of life leads to some spare time so that we can use the same  to reflect inwards and check what actions, incidents and events during the day makes us Happy and which ones makes us Sad. By introspecting about our selves deeply,  helps us to improve our happiness levels for the rest of the life.

We have technology to assists us to monitor our day’s events, happenings , our moods and experiences towards such events and happenings. By tracking our everyday living we can get rid of things that makes us Sad or ignorant and improve and strengthen our practices that makes us Happy. Introspecting and self analysis of our behaviors helps us tremendously in improving our mental abilities and physical fitness.  Make sure you spare an hour everyday before sleep to analyze the day’s events and how you reacted.  Which action of yours made you feel happy , helped in enriching you and which one is neutral and which one made you Sad. By doing that everyday you will start finding a pattern about how well you are shaping your life.  Remember the saying

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” -Charles Swindoll

Checklists regarding passwords

Many websites requires us to register in order to use their services or products such as ebay, amazon, ticket booking sites etc. Many of us already registered on various social websites such as facebook,  linkedIn, youtube and the list goes on depending on what websites you go. Most of us already have email accounts such as gmail, hotmail, yahoo mail. In all these cases you have to remember the passwords that you used on each site. After some times it becomes difficult to remember passwords. So let’s see how we can simplify this problem. Many of us also use the same password on all the services we access online. This makes easy for hackers to go into our important accounts. Avoid easy to guess passwords such as “password”, 12345 , your names etc..

1. Select a word that you can never forget. Some examples are your close friend”s name,  singer name,  actor names or color or parent, or lover or something that you like the most. For example let me select a word  ‘SoftTouch’ . Then let’s say you want to register at www.nature.com. Now what I can do is add the first or last three digits from nature to my most remembered word. Now my password will be ‘SofttouchNAT’ or “SofttouchURE’.. To make it safe from hacking or stealing by others now I might add a special character to the password. In the above example I can make my password as ‘SofttouchNAT1?’ by adding a ‘1’ and ‘?’ mark

Remember to select your most memorable word to be of length more than 6 digits so it will be safe from hacking.

2. Another simple way to remember password is jumbling your word with numbers or special characters. Let’s say from above example ‘Softtouch’ I can add 123 in between such as ‘S1oft2touch3’

This makes it difficult to predict your password.

3.Let’s say you love a song so much that you know each word of it so well.  If you have to change password every two months or so this technique will help you to keep going by using a word from the song as your password with a mixture of other characters to make it safe as above.

4. Use two level authentication so that when someone access your account from other computers the service ask you for verification. Here are more details about it for your gmail account. Step 1. Your password. 2. Using the Google Authenticator app available for Android, iPhone, and BlackBerry, 2) via SMS, or 3) through a voice call (meaning you could even use a landline if you didn’t have a cellphone—basically the call would read off the code to you).

Even facebook allows you to have two step authentication to protect you from hackers…

5. You can use password generator services such as Lasspass , keepass, 1password

Remember there are other ways of remembering passwords. You just need to make use of your creative brain.’

Good luck with passwords.

Wireless internet access using LED, Software tool for Disaster areas

Wireless internet data from LED Bulbs

A German physicist Mr.Harald Hass  has come up with a promising new technology named D-light for accessing internet wirelessly using Led bulb

By flickering the light from a single LED, he can transmit far more data than a cellular tower — and do it in a way that’s more efficient, secure and widespread.

It has new applications in hospitals, airplanes, military, and even underwater. Click here to watch his demo at ted.

The findings are already in practice in different forms in many research labs across the globe. Here is a link to what others have found about using the flickering light bulb for transmitting data wirelessly.

Wireless communication when everything breaks down during a disaster.

During a disaster relief agencies depend on satellite phones for communications. But they are expensive to buy and use. Here is a company that came up with a cheaper alternative software code that can be used to communicate information from a disaster zone.

http://thelifenetwork.org/

You need to download the software code(free to download) to your laptop or phone and can use in the absence of vital internet access. For extra service like texting you might have to pay a small fees for use. Still it is considered way cheaper than using satellite phones.

The company partnered with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in India, which will help deploy the service in communications-poor areas that have been hit hard by recent cyclones.

Bladeless table fans

Dyson an American company found a way to create a fan that does not have blades and called air multiplier. Dyson’s air multiplier blows a single sheet of air. The slope of wing creates negative pressure around the moving air sheet–thus sucking more air along for the ride. Thus while blowing little air the fan uses less current and gives out more air. Prioritization

Six months of the year has rolled by. When  you look back you should have realized some great moments to missed opportunities. Life is Real;   not cinema reel of two and half hours. So going forward you should consider spending your life in a much better way. Your Day should be planned properly to get the Maximum out of it.
Here are some points for you to consider to get the maximum value for your time and actions you take based on your personality and the importance you give to things you do daily .Tasks may be easy to difficult to achieve but prioritization is important.
  • Write it all down. Put everything on one list. Find out which tasks are easy and which are more difficult.
  • Do the easy ones quickly.  so they don’t bother you much. Cross them out. Example checking emails but only at a specific time (most of you should develop the habit of clearing your Inbox otherwise it becomes un managable and you may miss on some important mails)
  • Turn to a difficult  task.  For example studying for exams that may be due in few weeks. I observed that students tend to postpone preparations for exams to last minute. But spending at least  two hours daily for preparation well before exams will reduce stress levels in you and you can do much better. Many people tend to postpone or skip doing challenging jobs. Trying to do something challenging will enrich you with valuable experiences of life even if you failed to achieve the results  (Remember what T.Edison said about light bulb discovery  “learned 1000 ways of how not to do the bulb”)  SO failure should be considered as moving towards your goals of success.
  • Take a break.  This piece of advice I don’t need to say to those who have all day fun without any purpose or goals for life  but for those who work hard , to keep fit and do well in life;  they should  consider relaxing in intervals while working towards your goals. The best way to relax is to play your favorite sport or do yoga or meditation. These three gives you health, bliss and a relaxed mind.

Cheers, tears and Campus life

Academic year is in full swing.  The exciting campus interviews are happening, bringing back cheers, tears nervousness and tension for getting that dream job right away. There are several seminars, events and speakers like us who come to university and colleges to give insight into various subjects to prepare you to ever changing corporate culture. These needs to be balanced between fun, frolic, movies and gossiping and enjoying student life to it’s fullest.

Busy student life, right?

While these and many events that happen in campus and other colleges are part of your life, one important thing is missing in all these actions.  That is analyzing, collecting and grouping the knowledge and experiences gained and documenting them so that you can refer it as needed.  How much did you network with a successful professional who came to your college to speak?.  If you did that once or twice do you think that is sufficient for you to succeed in life. Networking with accomplished persons helps you to reach your goals.

Let me give you some guidelines on how best you can maximize  your cheers while eliminating tears by wasting away time and fighting on petty issues between friends. Ego  and infighting between classmates is a major hurdle in learning and enjoying life to it’s fullest during college days together. Life is too short to do that and college life is very very short to waste in petty things and ego clashes.

  1. Form a student team from various departments.  Teams should focus on gathering useful information from various seminars, making sure their classmates are sent to competitions, help in networking with professionals  and conduct useful seminars successfully themselves. They should also do post analysis of campus interview successes and failures to help themselves and others. For example : What was done differently? What new patterns or innovations did you notice in the campus interview or seminars or lectures from experts etc.  And most importantly, what new ways of learning — individually or collectively — should be continued?   How can you take advantage of technology tools? What skills you all  still need to develop? What else is new in the events?
  2. Identify the most common causes of some of the failures of the candidates who did not get thru the campus interviews and start focusing on that skills sets companies are looking for.
  3. Recently many collages are busy conducting events. One example is recent colors festival in Aditya engineering colleges followed by competitions and power point presentations on various subject matters  Other colleges are also having similar events and many of you participated or enjoyed these events. These events give you valuable lessons on team skills such as co ordination, hosting, communications, website development, marketing, presenting, conducting events successfully, getting media attentions etc. If you are smart there is so much to observe and learn from these events. Did you think of all these or just had fun and now ready for another event?

So Life offers much more than what we experience. What is most important is that you should be more observant and have a keen eye on what you can learn from anybody or anything that happens in your day. We have to hone up our skills of observation and analyzing powers. Imagination is a key factor in bringing the impossible to possibility and there is no boundaries that can stop you from imagining what is best for you , and to our nation.  Working smartly and with focus to reach your goals is a must.  We need to build this nation together to be the best on the planet.

I expect all of you to be smart and different and show to the world that you can be counted to be one among the best.    Good luck to you all.
